On 9 April 2024 the Grand Chamber of the European Court of Human Rights (the Court) handed down its judgment in Verein KlimaSeniorinnen Schweiz v Switzerland (KlimaSeniorinnen), finding that Switzerland violated the applicants' rights under Articles 6 and 8 of the European Convention on Human Rights (the Convention) by failing to take adequate measures to mitigate climate change and the effect of global warming.
